Cloverfield Impression

cloverfield To really experience this movie Audrey, David, and I went to the midnight showing at our local theater. It was 11:30pm and the theater started to get full by the minute until every seat was taken. At 11:45pm everyone started to get excited for the movie. I sat on the right side of the theater with a great view of the screen and where I could hear people discussing about the movie. “What do you think the monster looks like?” or “ You think this movie will make me dizzy?” are some of the questions that I hear from people in the audience. At 11:59pm the lights dim. After some previews from up and coming movie we see the Paramount Banner show up following the Bad Robot Production Banner. We right away hear someone banging on some metal. Then we see a person in space that is wielding something. It wasn’t Cloverfield but another J.J. Abrams project. You have to watch the movie to know what trailer it was. Let’s just say space is just the beginning. After the great trailer came the movie. I can feel my hair’s stand on my arm right before the movie started. The excitement that I had for this movie came over me. I won’t give any details or spoilers about the movie. It has everything that I expected and more. If you want to see a monster destroying New York City, then you are in luck. I thought going into this movie that the handheld point of view approach would make me nauseous. I was completely wrong. This approach makes you feel like you are part of the action, the drama, the laughs, and everything in between. Right away you feel something for these characters. You feel like you know the emotion they are having during this horrific event. You ask yourself this question, “what would I do if this happen?” Would you run away from this and just save yourself or are you going to save the people you love before its too late. That’s what the main characters have to think about while running around the city dodging this huge monster. The monster is really hard to describe. It’s something I never seen before. I won’t ruin it for the viewing audience because it’s really worth seeing with your own eyes. This movie has everything. There are scenes that can make you laugh for a good minute and there are also scenes that makes you feel sorry for these characters and situation they are in. You really connect with these people from beginning till end. You also cheer for these people and just hope that the best is to come. The only real thing I hate about this movie is the length. After the movie was done I can hear everyone wanting more. Director Matt Reeves really pulls you in and never lets go. After the movie was done half of the theater stayed to see if there was more to this movie than meets the eyes. Sadly we only get a little scrambled sound bite that’s hard to hear.
