I saw this movie with my girlfriend Audrey and my friends Sear and Nub. Sear and Nub wasn’t sure about watching this movie at the given time and kept on changing their minds till the last minute. Too bad we didn’t seat next to them. They both ended up seating couple of rows in front of us though. The theater was minimal pack with mostly couples in between the ages of 23 – 30. Of course like every other couples most of them wanted a seat of space between the next person and this caused Sear and Nub to seat in front of us instead of next. After everyone got to his or her seats the lights got dimmed and after a few trailers the music of Fox Searchlight Pictures started playing.
Juno is Funny and Adorable. If you are thinking this might be a chick flick, then you are wrong. If you are expecting to watch a Superbad or Knock Up type comedy then you came to the wrong place also. This movie takes a subject matter like teenage pregnancy and made it funny. It sounds like an awful thing, but when you hear the dialogue, or should I say slang in the movie, you will be laughing the whole way. Diablo Cody did a great job expressing the way the characters speak and really made you feel like you are peaking inside these people lives and watching them handle the situation while it unfolds. Ellen Page, who plays Juno the pregnant teenager, is hilarious and does a wonderful job acting like a dysfunctional teenager trying to make sense on what is happening with her body and life. Also Michael Cera, who plays Paulie the boy who got Juno pregnant, does wonderful job acting like confused teenager having a hard time-sharing his feeling with the person he got pregnant and love. There are also hilarious scenes with Juno dad, played by J.K. Simmons and Juno’s Best friend, played by Olivia Thirlby.
There is a few moment in the movie that would make you feel kind of creep out when they introduce the married couple trying to adopt Juno’s baby, especially the husband that is played by Jason Bateman. Also the Soundtrack of the movie is fun to listen while you watch the film, listen to the words for all the songs. The movie also has a little artistic intro in the beginning that reminded me of a Michel Gondry film.
The movie really sends a message to teenagers who are and were pregnant about the people in your life that truly loves you. The movie is also full of geek out references that only the cult following of refereed reference would know. I try to not give out too much in my impression of the movie so that you the viewing audience can take this little write up and expand on it. If you like "Thank You For Smoking" style of film with it's witty comedy, then you this movie might intrest you. Overall the movie is just plain funny. I would recommend this film to anyone who is interested in watching a heartwarming, funny, adorable, and at moments creepy film about a young teenager struggling with her pregnancy and the moments that are along the way.
