I consider Will Smith as a flexible actor because he can stretch his acting abilities for various roles such as Bad Boys (comedy), Ali (drama), I am Legend (action) or Hitch (love story). Each of these films were blockbuster hits and I highly doubt his future films will cease that trend any time soon. The Pursuit of Happyness supported this idea. Here's a little background: Will Smith stars in the inspirational true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman who's struggling to make ends meet. When his girlfriend Linda (Thandie Newton) walks out, Chris is left to raise their 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith) on his own. Chris' determination finally pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training program, where only one in twenty interns will make the cut. But without a salary, Chris and his son are evicted from their apartment and are forced to sleep on the streets, in homeless shelters and even behind the locked doors of metro station bathroom. With self-confidence and the love and trust of his son, Chris Gardner rises above his obstacles to become a Wall Street legend. The Pursuit of Happiness took place in 1980's from a struggling family. Not everyone is fortunate to have parents who can financially support their family however, this does not mean dreams are impossible to obtain. One of the scene from the film stated that no matter what your dream is, do not let anything stop you from acquiring that dream. This film is completely inspirational which should aid many people who will go through a recession timeline in our economy. I can see that many families might face similar obstacles as Chris Gardner did, however, do not let it hinder from reaching your dreams. Will Smith's performance exceed my expectation. His child's debut was excellent. Thandie's performance was outstanding as well. The film will be considered as a classic film in the future. I highly recommend everyone to watch this film, even though you did already. A boost of confidence can develop a spark that can go beyond your expectation. TRUPER™
