Kevin Smith has made a lot of controversial films that a lot of people won’t get unless you get his sense of humor. At the most, his films seem to be catered to the Generation X crowed or to people who love toilet humor. But under all this are stories that will make you think in life in a whole new way. He seems to touch on issues that most young people can relate too but doing so with his own type of brand film. Of course he has his own comedy troop that seem to be great in his films then others, this movie though takes two well-known comedy troops and combine them together to create a funny and romantic story that you can’t miss. This film takes a situation that any person can relate too in America. Whenever you feel like you hit rock bottom and seems like all chooses are gone but one last thing does remain, you make a porno. From the name of the film you would think this would be a raunchy film that will showcase naked women after naked women, but it doesn’t. In a weird way I’m happy that Smith and company took a different direction on this film. They could of made a film with raunchy moments after another, but they took the high ground and created a film that’s funny and romantic in a weird Kevin Smith way. Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen does a great job in the film portraying down-on-luck best friends that needed a break to pay all of their bills. They done everything in their power to get money but ended up making a porno instead. People from Judd Apatow camp and Kevin Smith camp makes this film interesting at times. Seeing how both camps come from different styles of comedy the scenes will give you mix feelings. Craig Robinson does a fabulous job carrying the film with Seth Rogen as his friend that helps finance the porno. His performance alone would make you laugh because rarely we see him act as much in other Apatow films. The Star Wars scene will have everyone laughing especially the Nerdcore people. The film has its moments with the laughs but one unforgettable moment will have the theater gross out. Kevin Smith does a great job in balancing his humor with Seth Rogens improvised style of comedy. I personally think that the romantic story really brings the movie together. It shows how you can find feeling for some one in the last place you would ever look and how friends will always be behind you even at the worst times in life. After watching film makes sure you stay during the credits. You are treated with some “real” porno.
