Slumdog Millionaire Impression

In 2009 Golden Globe Awards, Slumdog Millionaire won several awards, including Best Motion Pictures - Drama. Although it’s not the Academy Awards, winning Best Motion Picture from any award show is still significant. The film is directed by Danny Boyle who directed the critically acclaim films Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. Based on the book by Vikas Swarup called Q&A, set in the slums of Mumbai, India. The film is about Jamal Malik being an contestant in India’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? As a contestant, he relates each question to life’s experiences in the slums. The film tells Jamal’s story through flashbacks. In the the flashbacks we follow Jamal and his brother, Salim, in a great journey of sacrifice, stride, lost, greed, and love. In their journey Jamal helps and falls in love with Latika, whom is also a child from the slums. As the film goes, we discover how they are bound by destiny. Money and power plays in their lives and choices are made while growing up. The film is filmed in the India’s slums, which is too unreal to imagine how anyone can survive. All actors and actress were great, especially the young actors who played the young Jamal and Salim. The story and cinematography were both breathtaking and beautiful. The music plays off very well with the film, I give most credit to M.I.A. for providing several songs, because if you ever listen to her music, it goes great with the film. If you have an significant other, I highly recommend the film as a date movie. Also, like all films, go in without high expectations and enjoy the beauty of the film. Many might question how coincidental the film was. The million rupee questions corresponds with his life experiences might be unbelievable. Just be open-minded, try not to question why, because the main point is that we all follow a destiny, that things were already written, and we’re just reading it.
