Last Thursday my Bebe and I watched Terminator Salvation. Being the fourth installment of the franchise I didn’t anticipate a bad movie. What I was anticipating was a inexplicable plot that contradicts the last three movies, which I got. The reason for my concerns is that the franchise is heavily involved with time traveling, and we all know when stories and plots are relying on time traveling they tend to not make any sense, and sometimes takes the joy out of what we’re watching. Good thing this wasn’t the problem.
We enjoyed it. The director, McG, was surprisingly superb in the film making. His keen eye in action evolved since his last few films. I loved the opening sequence when John Connor, who was played by Christian Bale, tried to take off from the helicopter. The scene made it seem like you’re there. The acting was good, but the role of Barnes, played by my favorite rapper Common, was horrible. I’ll greatly admit, Common is not a good actor. The scenes he was in, were the worst scenes in the movie, but then again I wasn’t expecting much from him. Christian Bale did OK, but he seemed like he was on auto pilot. The rest of the cast were great, especially the lead role, Marcus Wright, played by Sam Worthington. As for the story and plot, it was confusing. Again, it’s dealing with time traveling, so I can’t complain too much. If you have seen the past three movies, then none of the plot in Salvation makes sense.
I would go into detail, but it’s confusing to explain. Anyways, if you’re looking for action and some of the best CGI in movies, then this is the movie for you. It’s not as deep and character driven as the last three movies, but it’s worth watching nonetheless.
