Night of the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian Impression
Larry Daley, the night guard from the previous film became the head of the Daley Devices, which one of his inventions usually came from his experience as a former night guard. He went to visit the museum and saw that American Museum of Natural History is under renovation, and some of the museum pieces are being replaced by holograms. The exhibits would be moved to Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. Teddy Roosevelt told him that not all of the exhibits would be moved to that museum and the Tablet of Ahkmenrah and Pharaoh Ahkmenrah would be staying, without the tablet they won’t come in to life again. When he already went home he received a call from cowboy Jedediah and told him that Dexter the Capuchin Monkey stole the tablet, and he heard in the background that something bad is happening. Larry immediately booked a flight to Washington DC, with the help of his son Nick to find where the exhibits were located. Smithsonian Institution consists of different museum, National Air and Space Museum, National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian Castle where he can find the exhibits, etc. He located the exhibits being locked in a crate by Kahmunrah and his troops. He took the Tablet of Ahkmenrah but he lost track of time and the exhibits started to move again. Kahmunrah took the tablet from him and his troops locked the crate. Kahmunrah told Larry that the tablet has many other powers not only making exhibits come to life it also bring an army from the underworld. Larry escaped with the help of General George Armstrong Custer, who gets captured because of his stupidity. Larry then met Amelia Earhart, the first aviatrix woman who flies solo across the Atlantic Ocean. The tablet not only made the exhibits came to life but also the paintings. While Kahmunrah was chasing them, they went to one of the paintings and trapped the troops and leaving his mobile phone inside the painting. Kahmunrah recruited black and white agent Al Capone, evil Russian emperor Ivan the Terrible and French Ruler/General Napoleon Bonaparte (Alain Chabat) to help him capture Larry. Larry and Amelia were captured and Kahmunrah tried to use the tablet but failed because the combination had been changed. He ordered Larry to decipher it within an hour in exchange to Jedediah’s life which been trapped in an hour glass. Larry and Amelia have been thinking who would be smart enough to know the combination of this. And Larry remembered bobble heads Einstein in the National Air and Space Museum. They’ve consulted the bobble heads Einstein and got the combination from him which is actually the “pi”. They flew back, and Amelia’s goes to seek help with the other exhibits and freed that exhibits that was locked in the crate, while Larry was negotiating with Kahmunrah. But the recruited troop of Kahmunrah captured one of the bobble heads Einstein and told him the combination. He opened the gates and summoned an army of bird-men, and ordered them to kill Larry. But before that happens statue of Abraham Lincoln arrived and scared the bird-men. And they went back to the gate freely. The freed exhibits battled the other exhibits while Larry had a fight with Kahmunrah using his flash light, Amelia used the combination to the tablet and Larry defeated Kahmunrah and pushed him in the underworld gate. Amelia flies Larry and the other exhibits back to the American Museum of Natural History. The Museum now opens late and allowing the people to see the exhibits moving but in a disguise of an animatronically animated exhibits. Larry thought of this to save the exhibits. Larry came back as a night guard to the museum and sold his company and donated the money to the museum to pay for the Audio-Animatronics exhibits. At the end he met a young woman who looks like Amelia and they’ve talked and he guides her towards the hall of miniatures. In the credits, the guy who got Larry’s blackberry phone that he left in the painting was actually Joey Motorola.
I really can’t say anything about the graphics and the sounds if it’s good or not since I only download this and watched this in my laptop, which doesn’t have the real quality of the film but I know it has the same graphics and environment as the first movie with a little bit enhancements with the warp of the underworld. But some says that the special effect was a bit of overacting. But for me kids watching the film won’t see it as overacting special effects but an entertainment and enjoyable effects that they would love to see.
Acting: Ben Stiller is truly a good comedian but still Jim Carrey is still the best for me. He had done a great work of making the moving enjoyable to watch. General Custer acting was good but the character he portrayed was a bit negative that some kids might laugh at him, but some would imitate him, but I’m not sure. And why Darth Vader doesn’t have any lines? Except for the deep breathing sound? He’s a bad guy and he could actually cut Kahmunrah in half so easily but it’s a family film so there wouldn’t have any bloody scenes. And how Larry fought Kahmunrah just using his flashlight! It’s so damn cool! The flashlight didn’t even crack. It means every time Kahmunrah struck the flashlight there’s no dent on it. Kahmunrah was so weak. And the bobble heads! That’s the only scene I can’t actually forget. I can’t stop laughing with that scene with Einstein bobble heads. And when they started to sing and dance “That’s the way aha aha I like it…” And the Cherubs… they have a cute singing voice I can’t help but sigh when they’ve started to sing. It really so cute.
The one I’m wondering is how do the planes in the science museum actually moved with engines, fuel, etc. The fuel won’t get empty or something? Hhmm… Does that mean that the tablet doesn’t only make exhibits, and paintings came to life, open a gate to underworld but also made every car or planes real too and have a lifetime of fuel, and many others?
